OEM Auto Shocks & Struts

Smooth Your Ride with Quality Shocks & Struts

At Bob Howard PDC, we understand that every component in your vehicle contributes to both your comfort and safety on the road. Shocks and struts dampen spring oscillations to control body motion and maintain tire contact with the road. These hydraulic dampers resist compression and extension forces from springs, preventing excessive bouncing and swaying. Vehicles like the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot depend on properly functioning shocks and struts for comfortable rides, predictable handling, and maximum tire grip during braking and cornering.

How Shocks and Struts Control Motion

Shocks mount between the frame and suspension, containing pistons that move through hydraulic fluid. As the suspension compresses and extends, fluid flows through valves, creating resistance that controls motion. Struts combine shock absorbers with structural support, serving as both dampers and mounting points for springs. This dual function allows struts to support vehicle weight while controlling motion, making them integral suspension components rather than just dampers.

Why Shocks and Struts Wear Out

Internal seals deteriorate from constant motion and heat, allowing fluid to leak. Once fluid escapes, damping effectiveness decreases dramatically. Mounting bushings crack from age and stress. Piston rods corrode from road salt and moisture. Generic aftermarket shocks and struts often use inferior seals and cheaper hydraulic fluid that cannot withstand temperature extremes. These low-quality replacements wear faster and may not provide correct damping rates for your vehicle's weight and suspension design, causing poor handling and accelerated tire wear that affects your entire suspension system performance and safety.

Replace Worn Shocks and Struts

Install new shocks and struts if your vehicle bounces excessively after bumps or dives during braking. Uneven tire wear, poor handling, or a harsh ride indicate worn dampers. Visible fluid leaks on shock bodies require immediate replacement. Most shocks and struts need replacement between 50,000 and 100,000 miles depending on driving conditions.

Enjoy fast shipping from Bob Howard PDC's team, with a fair return policy for your peace of mind.
