OEM Auto Alternators

The alternator is a crucial part of your vehicle's charging system, since it allocates electricity to the parts and systems that need the power boost. How it does so is simple: it takes the mechanical energy that the engine generates and transforms it into electrical energy.

The process begins with the crankshaft taking the vertical energy from the engine pistons and transforming that into rotary motion. That moves a belt attached to a pulley on your rotor shaft. That roils magnetic coils located inside the rotor shaft, leading them to create a magnetic field. The energy of that field is captured as DC power by a rectifier, which then turns it into the AC power that's managed by a voltage regulator.

This charges your vehicle's battery and delivers power to other systems such as your electronics, power windows, wipers, and power steering.

Sadly, even the best alternator can start to go bad. Whether that's due to improperly installed accessories, a faulty jump start, or worn-out parts, it puts you at risk of stalling completely once the battery gets drained.

How to Spot Alternator Issues

Signs of this include:

  • Dimmed or flickering headlights
  • Stereo system issues
  • The power windows quit working
  • Whining noises coming from your engine
  • You notice a burning smell from under the hood
  • Save on the Genuine OEM Alternators That Are Guaranteed to Perform Best

If you're experiencing any of these problems, test your charging system. If your alternator is going bad, replacing it with one made by your manufacturer is the best option. That's because they're the only alternators that are guaranteed to be compatible with your model. Our online auto parts store has everything you need in stock, priced up to 35% below the MSRP, and ready to ship. Buy now and save!
